SEAN Thacker has quit as first-team coach at Woodbridge Town.

Thacker took over the position in November last year as part of the new management team that saw Glenn Read installed as manager with Andy Lawrence as his assistant following the resignation of former Ipswich Town and Colchester United player Mick Stockwell.

Thacker runs the SETEC scheme at Copleston Sports College in Ipswich that is linked to Woodbridge Town and has produced a stream of young players who have played for the Ridgeons League Premier Division club.

It is believed he resigned his position due to a difference of opinion on footballing matters.

After a bright start to the season Woodbridge lost six league games in a row before stopping the rot with successive draws against leaders Lowestoft Town and Mildenhall Town.

Woodbridge are currently 18th in the 22-team Premier Division and are just one point above the relegation zone.
