A poor Colchester second half display gave Dereham a comfortable win on Saturday.
Having already lost twice to top-of-the-table Dereham this season, Colchester were hopeful that their fine home form would help them in this game.
Both sides went out hard and Colchester held their own for much of the half. Dereham were a continued attacking threat however and a mistake at the back let in a Dereham forward who powered the ball in from in front of goal.
The home side fought back and were rewarded with a string of penalty corners, which they failed to convert. Colchester were reasonably pleased to go into half time trailing only 1-0.
The second half was a different story as the visitors stepped up a gear and soon found themselves increasing their lead twice in the space of five minutes.
At 3-1 down Colchester struggled to create anything going forward and heads went down again after further goals from an in form Dereham side.
The game finished 7-0 with Colchester disappointed with their second half performance.
