Colchester 4 Old Buckenham 0

COLCHESTER produced a dominant performance to beat Old Buckenham at home on Saturday.

The home side were strong from the start, passing the ball around with ease and creating opportunities to take an early lead. After a couple of half chances went wide Colchester broke the deadlock when the ball fell to Louise Bibby who reversed the ball to Karen Harris to lift past the Old Buckenham keeper.

Colchester continued to dominate possession but found it difficult to put their chances away. Minutes before the half-time whistle however, a clever through ball by Harris found an unmarked Lucy Struth who controlled the ball around the oncoming keeper and slipped the ball into the back of the goal for a 2-0 half time lead.

The second half saw Colchester retain control of the game without creating many clear cut chances on goal. Anna Foley and Karen Harris passed the ball around with ease for much of the game with some fine support play from Anna-Marie Bradley and Kirsty Barber. The lead was made safe midway through the half when Colchester were awarded a penalty flick, which was converted with confidence by Louise Bibby. The game was all but over at 3-0 but Lucy Struth had the final say with a powerful penalty corner strike to give Colchester a 4-0 win in the dying minutes.

Colchester remain top of the league after a good team performance.
