Colchester II 2 Chelmsford III 4
Colchester's little run of two games without loss came to a disappointing end against a young Chelmsford side, going down 4-2 after two second half errors.
In the first half Colchester struggled to create much in attack and as a result most of the play was in their half. Colchester resisted for sometime but finally all the Chelmsford possession told and a well struck goal put them ahead.
The second half seemed to be going the same way when early in the half Chelmsford deservedly doubled their lead. This seemed to inject some urgency into Colchester and they then enjoyed their best period of play, creating two good chances to score. Julie Sexton grabbed her first goal of the season with a neat flick past the opposition keeper and Jess Thomas almost equalised when her shot came back off the post from another attack.
Having got themselves back into the game Colchester then gifted Chelmsford two quick goals. Although Colchester managed to respond again, Lizzie Lomar sweeping in Colchester's second, they had given themselves too much to do.
