Colchester track cyclist Chris Welham is heading to Los Angeles this weekend in pursuit of track glory.
While the 55-year-old doesn’t expect to medal in LA, he is hopeful of a top 20 finish at the UCI World Masters Track Championships.
For someone who has only been track racing two years, his progression in the sport is impressive and with the aid of British Cycling and various sponsors, he makes the trip this week in good heart.
“This is my third year in the Masters,” he said.
“The other two times were in Manchester. In 2015 I came 18th in the Time Trial, last year 16th.
“Realistically, I will be happy with a top-20 finish, that would represent a good result for me.”
