Colchester United boss, John McGreal, has admitted that there has been strong interest in a couple of his players during this month’s transfer window.
It looks like the U’s might have to face up to the prospect of losing at least one of their players, to a ‘bigger’ club, while also trying to recruit themselves before the window shuts at the end of this month.
“We want to keep our squad together, but realistically, there has been interest in a couple of our boys,” revealed McGreal following today’s training session.
“A Championship club and a club at the top end of League One had been in touch, so it’s over to (Director of Football) Tony (Humes) and (chairman) Robbie (Cowling) really.
“The interest has not surprised me, it’s only come a bit later than I would have expected. We had hoped that it would have come sooner, if anything. “I’m still looking to add. We thought we had a player last week, but we couldn’t get it over the line,” added McGreal.
