Colchester United sign former West Ham defender Jamie Harney on permanent basis

Colchester United have completed the permanent signing of former West Ham United defender, Jamie Harney.

Harney moved to the U’s on loan from the Premier League side in November, but has now penned a permanent deal to keep him at the West Homes Community Stadium until the summer of 2016.

Harney has made one senior start for United, in the heavy defeat at MK Dons, and has featured regularly for the club’s under-21s team.

The Northern Ireland product, who has represented his country between under-16 and 21 level, can play at centre-half or right-back.

Ipswich Town trio Andre Dozzell, Flynn Downes and Trevoh Chalobah could have the chance to impress the club’s new management when England’s Under-20s take on Germany in Colchester tonight (7pm ko).
