Colchester United have this afternoon completed the signing of Kyel Reid, on loan from Coventry City.
Experienced winger Reid, with exactly 300 senior games under his belt, has been recruited on loan from the Sky Blues, until January. He is in line to make his U’s debut against Aston Villa (League Cup, on Wednesday) and his league debut against Stevenage (League Two, this Saturday).
A graduate of West Ham’s Academy, 29-year-old Reid only played three times for the Hammers, but he did gain experience playing on loan at Championship level for Barnsley, Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Wolves, before signing a contract at Sheffield United in 2009.
- ‘It was not up to standard,’ admits Ryan Jackson
In recent seasons, he has blossomed at the likes of Charlton, Bradford, Preston and most recently Coventry.
Reid should increase John McGreal’s options down the left flank over the coming weeks.
