Ryan Jackson is one of a trio of Colchester United players hoping to make their home debuts, against the once-mighty Aston Villa tonight.
Right wing-back Jackson was perhaps the best performer, from the starting line-up, in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley, following his summer move from Gillingham. Now Jackson is looking forward to making his home debut under the lights at his new home of the Community Stadium, as are fellow new recruits Mikael Mandron and Kyel Reid.
“The league is our bread-and-butter, but this is a big match,” enthused Jackson.
“There’s no better feeling to have a game so quickly, to put Saturday behind us.
“It will be a big contrast to Accrington, playing under the lights at home in front of a good crowd. It should be a confidence boost.
“I’m looking forward to making my home debut.”
Teenage attacker Tariq Issa, on the bench on Saturday, could make his senior debut.
