The hope is that Newport County will have one eye on their FA Cup fourth round replay at Tottenham, to be staged at Wembley on Wednesday evening, when they roll up at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

U’s boss, John McGreal, does not believe that this will be the case, especially as the Exiles one of the U’s League Two play-off rivals.

In fact, the Welsh club are three points better off than the U’s, and one place higher in 10th, thanks in the main to an excellent away record that has already yielded one away league win every month since August (six wins to date).

- A warning from John McGreal

McGreal said: “Newport do have the Tottenham game. But they are in the shake-up themselves, and they didn’t rest any players for the Lincoln game (on Tuesday). I’m expecting a similar team, a full-teamish. They have will want to stay up there.”

However, two of Newport’s players, Frank Nouble and Joss Labadie, might be excused for thinking ahead to Tottenham, because both are just one booking away from a suspension, which would see them miss the trip to Wembley.
