West Suffolk College Sports Academy footballer Daniel Cunningham is hoping to follow in the footsteps of former team mate Liam Trotter in playing for a Football League team.

Cunningham has recently spent time at League Division Two club Mansfield Town on a week's trial.

"Daniel made his Bury Town first team debut midway through the season and has since become a regular in the team," said Richard Wilkins, Bury Town manager.

"It goes to show to young players that you never know who is watching. Whatever comes of it I'm sure Daniel will benefit greatly from the experience."

Cunningham is the first to go on and appear at first team level.

West Suffolk College Sports Academy player Lee Smith, who has already tasted international action with the ECFA (English Colleges FA) national squad, will represent England in a forthcoming international tournament in Italy.

Joining him in the squad will be team mate Ryan Foster, 17, from Thetford who is in his first year at the Sports Academy.
