CRANE Sports manager Robbie Beecroft expressed his disappointment after last night's Touchline Sports Suffolk Senior Cup final at Portman Road.

A 44th minute goal from Ipswich-born Alan Remblance won Beccles Town the coveted trophy after Beecroft's Metaltec SIL Senior Division side faded away after the interval.

Crane started favourites but after failing to make the most of their early opportunities they are left to look towards the Omnico Cup as their best bet for silverware.

“I am gutted,” said Beecroft. “We just died a death in the second half.

“If we had played like we can play I am sure we would have won the game. But we didn't and it is hard to take.

“It was not our night - hitting the bar twice and seeing their keeper pull off two great saves.”

And Crane chairman Steve Roper added: “This is a blow, but these lads will not give up.

“We have the Omnico Cup semi-final to play on Saturday and we are not out of the hunt for the league title yet.

“Beccles took their chance and the match-winner Alan Remblance looked a very good player.”
