The ever improving time trial riders from Sudbury made a valiant attempt to defeat Colchester Rovers in Thursday's interclub race on the Lavenham 10 circuit but again found themselves in second place.

The event sees the fastest five riders from each club score points depending on their finishing place. Despite having the individual fastest rider on the night, Simon Wright in 22 minutes and 20 seconds, the team scores were Colchester 229 and Sudbury 226. Second and third went to Colchester riders P Jarvis and A Manley, in 23-33 and 23-35 respectively. The other scoring Sudbury riders were Rob Davies in 5th with 23-58, Alan Russell 6th in 24-02, James Rush in 7th 24-07 and Damon Day in 10th with 25-20. Simon's time was highly impressive and suggests he could challenge Lee Bark's supremacy around one of the tighter time trial courses. The evening point's series has a new leader with Alan Russell scoring 151 points making him our clear leader on 376. With plenty of time trials to come I am sure George Hoppit can push Alan all the way in this trophy series.

The weekend saw three riders put their disappointment behind them and all achieve personal best times at the East Anglian District 10 near Snetterton. James Rush flew home in 22-20, averaging almost 28mph. Damon Day achieved 23-50 and Barbara Law also achieved her PB for a 10.
