Stowmarket assistant Alex Davey won the professional prize at the Suffolk Winter Alliance meeting on his home course on Sunday with a round of 71.
He beat Neil Mitchell (Ipswich Golf Centre) by one shot. Mark Farrow of Diss was third with 80.
Haverhill’s James Hastie and Brian Hastie won the better ball Stableford with 46 points. They finished three ahead of Davey and Ken McCredie, Stowmarket’s Stenson Shield captain this year.
Third place went to Kim Ward and Peter Bartlett of Haverhill with 42 points on count back from Gary Borthwick and Roger Gardiner of Stoke by Nayland.
It was sunny in the morning and overcast later for the 84 players who enjoyed a course in fine condition for the time of year.
The next Suffolk Winter Alliance meeting will be at Southwold on Thursday, November 16.

Kevin Brooks of Hintlesham has been reappointed as captain of Suffolk Seniors for next season.
His squad won the East Anglian Daily Times Shield as champions of the Anglian Senior League. They staged a celebration dinner at Stowmarket.
Suffolk visit Kent for their traditional friendly fixture to start the new season. It will be played at Pedham Place Golf Centre at Swanley on April 4. It is a chalk downland course.
On April 19 Suffolk Seniors will meet Hertfordshire Seniors at Moor Park in another friendly.
Suffolk will meet Lincolnshire at Belton Woods on June 11 in the Anglian League. Other dates and venues have yet to be finalised.
The Suffolk Senior Championship, over 18 holes, will be hosted by Woodbridge on August 15.
Eight-year-old Ted Hopkins from Cretingham won his category in the Stonham Barns October Open with a score of 38. It was the best score of the day in all age groups.
Three players went round in 45 in the under-10 group. Ethan Lewin won on count back from his brother Kyran and Euan Fisk.
The Stonham Barns Junior Players’ Championship, the final tournament of the season, is to be held on Sunday, November 26. This event is invitation only for juniors who have played in at least one event this year.
Stowmarket won this year’s Curry Cup beating Colne Valley in the final. They had previously won in 2011.

Group B: Stowmarket 49, Colchester 37.5, Stoke by Nayland 35.5, Fynn Valley 34.5, Stapleford Abbotts 29.5.

The Curry Cup started in 1999 when Bob and Paul Curry owned Colne Valley Golf Club.

The PGA in England East will be represented by Robert Coles of Maylands in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth next May. He dominated the PGA Play-Offs at Walton Heath with rounds of 68 65 and 66. Glen Portelli (Old Fold Manor) and Stuart Brown (Thorpe Wood), the other two East hopefuls, missed out. Brown was in contention after two days. His final round of 77 killed his chances.
