FORMER England fast bowler Dean Headley will officially open Hadleigh Cricket Club’s new artificial wicket on Tuesday.

Headley will open the facility at the club’s Friars Road ground at around 5.45pm, before playing for a BBC Radio Suffolk side in a Twenty20 match against a Hadleigh XI.

SUFFOLK Under-17s defeated Scotland Under-17s by three runs at Copdock.

Day one of the two-day fixture was rained off, but sunshine on day two allowed a reduced match of 60 overs-a-side.

Chris Summerskill opened the batting for Suffolk and scored 49 before lunch on his way to an impressive 78.

Sam Webb Snowling (31) and Jack Beaumont (25 not out) also made useful contributions as Suffolk closed on 234 for eight.

Scotland lost their wickets cheaply until Wells (54) and Aslam (58) rallied.

Scotland needed seven off the last over, and with spectators on both sides holding their breath, Dan Hill conceded only four singles as Suffolk won an exciting match by just three runs.

A CENTURY opening stand between Trevor Mills and Frank Warner set the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Over-50s representative side on their way to a 96-run success against Maldon Seniors at Drapers Farm.

Martin Southwell, who plays for Maldon, then claimed figures of 9.4-3-25-3 to secure The John Ellis Memorial Trophy, presented to the victors by Doreen Ellis, who was accompanied by her family.

Two Counties Over-50s 214 for 5 (F Warner 65, P Boulton 56no, T Mills 34, E Carpenter 2 for 59). Maldon Seniors 118 (K Bannister 30, P Symons 28, M Southwell 5 for 23, S Carpenter 3 for 22). Two Counties won by 96 runs.

Maldon Seniors defeated the Two Counties Over-60s side by five wickets at The Promenade.

The Over-60s host the Surrey Over-60s touring side at Star Stile, home of Halstead CC, on Tuesday, start 2pm.
