DEBENHAM Leisure Centre are starting the search for a new chairman and vice-chairman.

Chairman Stephen Anderson, his wife Bridget and vice-chairman Kevin Snell are to stand down from their positions on the club committee at the end of the current season.

The shock news comes in the wake of manager Dale Vince’s resignation earlier this month as first-team manager at the Thurlow Nunn League Division One club.

Stuart Reavell, who was first-team coach, has taken on the role of interim manager until the end of the season.

A statement on the club’ website said of Anderson and Snell’s decision to step down: “Both cited a need to be free from the pressure of almost constant involvement with club affairs and the pressures of match-days.

“Between now and the end of the current season both affirmed their intention to continue in their current tasks with full vigour and in the next season(s) will be close to the club but not officially involved but willing to help where applicable.

“The club committee members expressed their regrets at Stephen, Bridget and Kevin’s news but accepted their decisions and wished them well.

“It was said that it seems no coincidence that the upturn in the club’s business and financial footing in recent times relates directly to the period that Stephen and Kevin have been leading the club together.”

The club is now seeking suitable applicants who may wish to take on the roles as either club chairman or club vice-chairman.

Anyone interested in discussing the posts is invited to contact Stephen Anderson on 01728 860204 or 07881 861620 or Kevin Snell on 07855 802258.
