AFTER the heroics of winning the FA Youth Cup on Friday, it will be back down to earth time for some of Ipswich Town's young stars at Carrow Road tonight, writes Derek Davis.

Steve McCall will be relieved to have the pick of the youngsters, along with a sprinkling of senior players, when Town reserves take on Norwich City in a 7.30pm kick-off.

A squad will not be decided until mid-morning after consultation with Blues boss Joe Royle and Academy director Bryan Klug.

James Scowcroft, Matt Richards and Drissa Diallo are all pencilled in to play with Aidan Collins, Shane Supple and Liam Craig among the youth team players who are likely to be involved.

The sparkling Dean McDonald will keep his place, although James Krause, Gerard Nash and Scott Mitchell are recovering from injury and will be tested this morning.

McCall said: "It will be good to have the youth lads available again. After the euphoria of Friday night it will be a case of getting back to normal, although a game against Norwich is not a bad game to follow a cup final.

"Derby matches are always important to players and supporters alike, no matter at what level, so we will be going there to win."

With three games left, victory is needed to help the Blues move out of the basement, with a game against second-bottom club Portsmouth to follow.

Canaries boss Keith Webb believes the visitors will still be on something of a high after their FA Youth Cup final success over Southampton on Friday.

"I am expecting it to be a very competitive derby match because they will be buzzing after the Youth Cup exploits," he said.

"Everyone will be on a high after that. But we did well down there earlier in the season and I am expecting just as tough a game tomorrow."

City were 2-1 winners at Portman Road in October, with young striker Danny Crow's first professional goal securing the points.

Nigel Worthington's first-team requirements dictate Webb's line-up and there will be no risks taken as the Canaries attempt to retain their Premiership status.

Out-of-favour defenders Marc Edworthy and Simon Charlton will start tonight, as will Ian Henderson and Paul McVeigh. Joe Lewis plays in goal, with Darren Ward needed as back-up to Robert Green, while Phil Mulryne is still recovering from injury.

Of the team that won at Portman Road, Jason Shackell has advanced to the first team, while Crow is on loan at Northampton, albeit injured at the moment, and Ryan Jarvis is on loan at Colchester United.

City (expected): Lewis, Edworthy, Rossi, Jarvis, Howlett, Halliday, Charlton, Cave-Brown, Henderson, McVeigh, Fisk and Eagle. Subs: Howell, Gusterson, Willis and Herbert.
