HARLESTON Magpies Men’s IV pre-season came to an end with an enjoyable training match with Dereham III. Both teams used the opportunity to test new players and bring back a few old friends however it was Magpies Mitchell Tomkins on his debut for the fourth who out shown everyone bringing some pace to the Magpies attack and deservedly scoring a quick brace to settle the tie.
Toby Hughes impressed in a new midfield role yet still managed to find the back of the net and Chris Barber completed Magpies score line. Dereham continued to work hard and their efforts finally paid off with a consolation goal in the final third of the game, shaking off their pre-season rustiness in readiness for next weekend when both these teams will meet again in their opening league match.
