LAWRENCE Dodd of Thetford, the former Suffolk and Bury St Edmunds player, has reached the final stage of the PGA European Tour School to be played over six rounds at San Roque starting on Thursday.

He was among the 74 qualifiers from the second stage completed at four courses in Spain last week.

Dodd was ninth equal at Catalunya at five under par with rounds of 68 67 76 and 72. Players at three under were involved in a play-off.

Other Catalunya qualifiers included former England amateur Adam Gee, Norfolk's Andrew Marshall and French amateur Romain Bechu who shared this year's Brabazon Trophy with Suffolk's Jamie Moul. Former Chelmsford player Richard Wallis was 12 over par.

Players needed six under par at Costa Ballena to make the play-off. Walker Cup star Rhys Davies (four under), Lloyd Kennedy (Chelmsford) two over and former Europro winner at Ufford Park Chris Sands (three over) were all disappointed.
