LIVERPOOL defender Andre Dossena has dismissed rumours that a move away from the club is imminent. The player has reassured fans that a future remains for him at Anfield.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a return to Italy over the course of the summer after failing to make an impression in his first season. Dossena was signed as a direct replacement for John Arne Riise who left for Roma. Liverpool signed Dossena from Udinese for an initial 6.5 million fee.

It is now thought that Reds' boss Rafael Benitez plans to include the Italian for the forthcoming season. Fabio Aurelio picked up an injury in Brazil's recent international fixture and with limited defensive options, Dossena appears to be the obvious replacement.

“I've heard a lot of rumours about my future this summer but the truth is I want to remain at Liverpool,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I'm happy with my team-mates, with my coach and with the club. I have never wanted to leave.”
