NEEDHAM Market have signed former AFC Sudbury and Maldon player Sheridan Driver.

The right-sided defender or holding midfield player joins the club on a contract until the end of the 2010/11 season with an option for a further year.

Currently recovering from a serious injury sustained at the end of season 2009/10, the 26-year-old former Colchester United YTS player has committed his immediate future to Needham where he has been undergoing rehabilitation work on the road to full fitness.

General manager Andy Gould stated that the club are delighted to have completed the signing of a player who has significant experience of the level of football in which the club are now competing, adding quality to a playing squad that has adapted well to the challenge of Ryman League One North this season.

He added that Driver, who finally put pen to paper at Bloomfields on Tuesday evening, had been a long-term target of manager Danny Laws, fitting perfectly the profile of the type of player he was looking to bring to the club to bolster an already talented squad.
