Glen Driver’s Leiston visit Champion Hill tomorrow afternoon to play Dulwich Hamlet in the Bostik Premier Division, writes Craig Cooper.

The Blues go into the match having won their last four league games, scoring 12 goals and conceding just one in the process.

They followed their 5-0 victory over Harrow Borough last Saturday with a 3-1 win at home to Merstham in midweek.

Christy Finch, Jack Ainsley and Byron Lawrence were all on target in a deserved win, leaving Driver delighted.

“In our last two matches, some of the football we have played has been more pleasing than the results,” Driver said.

“It’s a credit to the team as all over the park, players have been taking responsibility for each other, and with a fully-fit squad to choose from I believe we can compete with anyone in this league.”

Tom Bullard, (who missed Tuesday’s match at home to Merstham), returns to the squad and Kyle Hammond, who came on as a second half substitute on Tuesday, is back in the frame after three months on the sidelines.

“These are big players for us and to have them back will make us even stronger,” Driver added.

On tomorrow’s opponents Dulwich Hamlet, Driver admitted: “Dulwich will be a tough game as they are a top footballing side.

“But we go there in good form and hopefully can give a good account of ourselves.”

Leiston actually have a very decent record against Dulwich Hamlet.

Since playing them for the first time in 2014, Leiston have only lost one match out of nine to the London club.

That came in August 2014 at Victory Road.

In fact, they have never lost at Dulwich yet, remaining unbeaten in four visits, winning three of them.

In the game at Champion Hill last season, two goals each from Joe Francis and Gareth Heath saw Leiston come away 4-2 victors.

After today, the club can look forward to a home match with Lowestoft Town on Boxing Day, with the match kicking off at 1pm.

Meanwhile, back at Victory Road tomorrow, the Reserves entertain AFC Sudbury Reserves.
