ADRIAN Mussett and Tamara Jordan recorded crushing victories at the annual Dedham Run, which was staged over a 10km course in warm conditions.

Mussett, of Colchester Harriers AC, won the men's race by more than three minutes. The experienced marathon runner clocked 32mins 16secs.

Unattached athlete Gabriel Sveiga was second in 35.26, with Great Bentley Running Club's David Green a further 24 seconds back in third spot.

David Wright, of the Harriers, was fourth overall and the leading veteran in 37.40. Ipswich Jaffa's Ray Hill topped the super veteran category (over-50).

Meanwhile, there was no stopping Jordan in the ladies' race. The Stowmarket Strider was only beaten by five men as she cruised to victory in 38.02, therefore continuing her fine form of the summer, when she clinched the Friday Five Series.

Jordan's nearest challenger was nearly five minutes adrift - Jennifer Stewart was second lady and the leading female veteran in 42.43.

Other female veterans to the fore included Fran Norris, of Colchester Harriers, and Nicola Pyle, of Colchester & Tendring AC.

There was also a supporting fun run. Senior athlete Craig Slocombe was first home, followed by a trio of under-16 athletes in Tom Bailey, Colchester & Tendring's Laura Hillyard (first girl) and James Powley, of Ipswich Triathlon Club.

Thomas Buttery was first in the 11-12 year-old class, as was Calum Burke in the younger 9-10 category. Colchester Harriers featured highly in the girls' race, with Emily Moore in second and Katherine-Jayne Watts first home in the 9-10 year-old age group. Club-mate Megan Moore won the 11-12 section.

A field of close to 350 tackled the 10K event, and there were an amazing 254 finishers in the fun run, which was a big test for the organisers.
