Tayo Edun’s Ipswich Town career started with a bang, but the young Fulham loanee insists he still has plenty to learn following his move to Portman Road.
A little more than 24 hours after completing his season-long switch to Suffolk the 20-year-old came off the bench to rescue a point for his new club, as his cross evaded everyone to find the back of the net and earn the Blues a 2-2 home draw against Blackburn.
“Getting a goal just makes settling in so much easier,” he said. “It was definitely a cross, but I’ll take it. I just looked to put a good ball in a good area around plenty of bodies and thankfully it went in.”
He continued: “I’m looking to get as many minutes as possible while I’m here and to learn.
“There’s a lot to learn from team-mates and from coaches here. I know I’m not the finished article and there’s still a lot more to come.
“I think I play in people’s faces, get up and down the pitch and am energetic.
“I came on on the wing and I have played at left-back a bit, but midfield is my favourite position. I’ll play wherever the team needs me, though.
“The competition is good and we’ll all keep pushing each other.”

Edun is among friends at Portman Road, having played with Trevoh Chalobah and Andre Dozzell as part of England’s victorious Under-19 European Championship winning side of 2017.
But he’s also enthused by the opportunity to work with Ipswich manager Paul Hurst, who he has admired from afar.
“Me, Trevoh and Andre were at the Under-19 Euros together in 2017 and it’s good to come here and see familiar faces,” he said.
“There was a bit of interest here and there but Ipswich was the one I had my eye set on, especially with Paul being the manager here and the type of football he plays.

“I’ve been impressed by the young players he’s helped bring through at Shrewsbury. I saw players getting games there and making progress.
“That’s what I’m expecting to do, having come from Fulham and being here for the season.
“I was always ready to play, I don’t know if I expected it, but I was well prepared despite arriving on Friday.
“The team didn’t stop working and the fans backed us and that’s something I’m excited to be a part of. Hopefully we can keep that pushing through the season.”
