Kidderminster Harriers, from the Skrill Premier, await the winners after Braintree Town and Newport County battled out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Cressing Road on Saturday in the FA Cup first round.

The replay takes place in Wales next week.

Braintree were at their typically defiant best on a gluepot of a pitch that sapped legs and strength, but never Iron’s resolve to get something out of the match.

After taking the lead through a fizzling Chez Isaac 25-yarder, his shot from a Kenny Davis pass, skidding across the wet turf, Iron got to half-time still ahead.

Indeed they were bossing the match against their League Two opponents.

But Iron were caught napping just after the break when Tom Naylor put Ryan Peters under all sorts of pressure at the back post, Peters heading into his own net a yard out.

It put the Welsh team in the ascendency and only some great stops from Braintree keeper Nik Hamann and some heroic defending from the Iron defence – most noticeably Dean Wells – kept the Essex team in the competition.
