Football: World Cup fever will be hitting Kings Marsh Stadium when former West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and England 1966 World Cup legend Martin Peters will be guest of honour for AFC Sudbury’s last home game of the season against Woodford United on Saturday, April 24.

He will be the club’s special guest as middle schools from Sudbury, Clare, Nayland and Gt Cornard take part in the fifth AFC Sudbury Annual Penalty Competition.

Peters was one of the finest players of his generation and at the tender age of 22 scored for England as they beat West Germany to become World Cup winners in 1966.

AFC Sudbury, in association with match sponsors Gt Waldingfield Garages, are delighted that Martin has accepted the club’s invitation to be involved in what should be a fun-packed afternoon for all the family.

He will help referee the penalty competition for local middle school children and present the winning school representative with a 250 sports voucher and will also be available for autograph and photo opportunities.
