TOM Maynard, the Surrey batsman and son of former England batsman Matthew, has been killed aged just 23.
Maynard, one of the most promising batsmen in the country, died in an accident in the early hours of Monday morning believed to involve a District line tube train.
England were practising at Maynard’s home ground of the Kia Oval ahead of Tuesday’s second one-day international when the news began to emerge. The players are said to be in shock.
