FABRICIO Coloccini, Newcastle misfit, could be set for a move to Spanish club Espanyol if a contentious agreement is met.
The Toons' are desperate to get rid of the 40,000-a-week Argentine centre-back who made his name playing for Deportivo La Corua. He is currently serving a five year contract.
Coloccini originally cost the club over 10million and was considered as one of owner Mike Ashby's biggest mistakes.
Espanyol are initially interested in signing the defender on a season long loan deal with the option of a reduced bid for 3million. However, the offer will only go through if Newcastle agree to pay 20% of Coloccini's weekly-wage-bill. The transfer may prove to be a real test of how desperate the club is to try and reduce their monthly outgoings are being relegated.
