DAVID East’s legacy to Essex Cricket will be the redevelopment of the Ford County Ground in Chelmsford.
It is hoped work will begin on a multi-million pound redevelopment of the ground, which is close to the city centre, and its adjacent surroundings in the spring.
The facelift will include a new pavilion and new media centre as well as increasing the ground capacity to 8,000.
The redevelopment will also see 300 high-specification residential apartments built over four towers, many with superb views over the ground, Central Park and the River Can.
East said: “I would like to think people will remember me for the ground re-development.
“I have worked very closely with Keith Brown, the club treasurer, and we have navigated our way through a very challenging planning process, and it now looks as though work is likely to start in the spring.
“I have been involved since 2003 when the process was in its earliest stages.
“It is something I had never done before, so it was a learning curve for both me and Keith.
“With the redevelopment ready to go ahead the club can now moved forward with confidence in the next few years.”
