Toffees boss David Moyes and his Villa counterpart Martin O'Neill are said to have been hugely impressed by the role Etuhu has played in Fulham's resurgence this season.

The Nigerian international, 26, joined from Sunderland for 1.5m last August and has been a regular under Roy Hodgson since returning to full fitness just before Christmas.

Etuhu signed on a three year contract but the Londoners are likely to offer him an improved deal in a bid to keep him at Craven Cottage. Wigan and West Ham have also expressed interest.

Moyes, though, has been told he will have to splash out 10m if he wants to land Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho, one of his top summer targets.
