EUROPE have reclaimed the Ryder Cup after battling to a dramatic win over holders the United States in Wales.
Colin Montgomerie’s side entered the final day’s singles needing just five points from 12 to lift the cup but came up against an inspired American fightback which saw the match go down to the final game of the day.
And Graeme McDowell’s win aganst Hunter Mahan on the 17th green gave Europe a 14 1/2 to 13 1/2 victory.
The US side, who fell behind early in many of the singles matches, fought back well behind incredible play from Dustin Johnson, Tiger Woods and Ricky Fowler but could never quite reclaim the advantage at Celtic Manor.
Europe will defend the trophy in America in 2012.
