Everton solve striker crisis

EVERTON have signed Manchester City reject Jo on loan for the rest of the season.The 21-year-old Brazilian striker - full name Jo�o Alves de Assis Silva - arrived at Eastlands in a �19m deal in the summer but has failed to hold down a regular first team place.

The 21-year-old Brazilian striker - full name Jo�o Alves de Assis Silva - arrived at Eastlands in a �19m deal in the summer but has failed to hold down a regular first team place.

Everton have been desperate for strikers following injuries to Yakubu, James Vaughan and Louis Saha.

David Moyes is said to have been keen on bringing Jo to Goodison Park in the summer, but Mark Hughes beat him to signing the Brazilian from Russian side CSKA Moscow.
