Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Haverhill Rovers have signed former AFC Sudbury and Bury Town goalkeeper Alex Archer.

Archer ended his deal at Sudbury by mutual consent at the end of the 2014-15 campaign and he will also continue to manage Rovers’ under-18s side next season.

Starting his career at Peterborough United, he had a brief spell at Rovers in the past and has also played for Ilkeston and Stamford AFC.

More recently he spent much of last season out on loan to Bury Town.

Archer said: “I am delighted to sign for the club as I feel it is a very ambitious club with real potential to progress over the next few years which is something I am relishing being part of.

“I have a great relationship with the manager and I believe that, with his experience, he is the ideal person to be working under at this stage of my career and to move the club forward.”

He added: “As well as the playing side of things I am looking forward to working within the youth section of the football club, continuing my role as the under-18s manager as well as working with the young goalkeepers across all of the age groups.”
