FORMER Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd is set to be named as the new manager of Northampton Town today.
FORMER Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd is set to be named as the new manager of Northampton Town today.
Boothroyd will take over at the struggling Cobblers, as a successor to previous boss Gary Johnson, charged with the first task of keeping them in the Football League.
The Sixfields club are only three points ahead of the League Two relegation zone, after a dreadful recent run.
They have lost their last two matches under two different caretaker managers, 7-2 at Shrewsbury and 4-1 at bottom club Plymouth.

Boothroyd was the manager of Colchester for one season, in 2009-10, before switching to Coventry City in May, 2010.
His record at the Weston Homes Community Stadium was good in the early months, although results took a turn-for-the-worse during the second half of the season.

The 40-year-old was sacked as Coventry boss on March 14 of this year.
