MILDENHALL College of Technology and Mildenhall Town have announced an exciting new programme that links the school, football club and local community.

Starting in September there will be a new sport and education academy (SEA) scheme running at the school. Pupils who are selected and enrol on the course after successful trials will be able to study a level 2 or 3 course in sport, which could lead up to the equivalent of three A levels.

Pupils will also gain professional coaching each day through UEFA qualified coaches involving individual/team development and tactics, individual fitness programmes and nutritional advice.

Players will have the opportunity to represent the school in local leagues and national colleges cup competitions.

And also form the squad of players for Mildenhall Towns Under-18's, which plays in the Ridgeons Youth League. Players will also have the opportunity to play for Mildenhall Town reserves with the eventual aim of progressing to the first team.

The scheme will differ from other similar programmes as players will also have the chance to gain FA coaching awards and be linked to the youth set up at Mildenhall Town as coaches with the younger teams to enhance their experience and give expertise back into the youth community.

Trials will be held during the Easter holidays at Mildenhall College of Technology (Thursday, April 9 - 10am to 2pm) and interested parties should contact Christian Appleford, head of physical education at Mildenhall on 01638 714645 / 07795 226169 or Mildenhall Town chairman, Martin Tuck via the club for further information.
