Ipswich Town players and fans have been reacting to their fine win at Derby County.

The Blues are now unbeaten at Pride Park for 11 years, after Everton loanee Callum Connolly headed home in the fifth minute last night.

And Town, having shown their footballing skills in the first half, then frustrated the Rams in the second half as they held on for a third straight 1-0 win in Derby.

Afterwards, Mick McCarthy said: “It’s a big win. I thought it was a really good disciplined, fighting, well-organised, stoic performance.

““We were a threat in the first half, then we’ve had to defend. They’ve had all of the ball, but it’s what we allowed them to do with it.

“I thought we nullified them for the most part and when they did get through we’ve had good last-ditch tackles and Bart (Bialkowski) made a great save.

“I said to the lads coming off ‘what’s that all about, a clean sheet?!’ They were thrilled not to concede.”

His players have been reacting on Twitter, with Martyn Waghorn, Bersant Celina, Grant Ward, Jonas Knudsen and Bartosz Bialkowski sharing their thoughts.

‘Mad Dog’ Knudsen said: “Massive three points. Back to winning ways. Excited to have reached 100 games for Town! Big thanks for the support tonight.”

Waghorn added: “Great shift from the lads today. Tough game but 3 points is all that matters. Thanks for the support and safe trip back, on to Saturday now.”

Fans too have been full of praise - especially for skipper Luke Chambers, who rallied his troops around him after Connolly’s early strike and gave what looked to be an impassioned team talk to the huddle.

Craig Bolger said: “What a captain we have in Luke Chambers. Don’t think we realise how lucky we are.”
