Felixstowe 2 Ipswich III 1

Felixstowe finished their season on high note by taking Ipswich III's previously unbeaten record.

The Seasiders' approached the game with a formation change to counteract the attacking threat of Ipswich and accommodate for the absence of some regular players.

From the first whistle, Felixstowe attacked with vigour, looking to break up the passing play of the away team and turn defence quickly into attack. It was a break away move, led by the skilful Steve Askins, that found Matt Burden in space to give the home team a deserved lead.

Despite periods of pressure from Ipswich, it was Felixstowe who quickly scored again. Two short corners in quick succession led to Alex Woodhouse flicking the ball past the despairing dive of the Ipswich keeper. Some great last ditch defending from the Felixstowe back four kept the score line to 2-0 at half-time.

In the second half, despite their long spells of possession, Ipswich could not turn their attacks into goals, Steve Taylor denying them on numerous occasions at the heart of the Felixstowe back line.

In fact, it was the Seasiders who had the better of the chances and they should have made the result safe late in the game but Ben Fowler's effort spun wide of the goal.

It took until the 63rd minute for Ipswich to find a goal from a short corner, but it proved to be too little too late for the dismayed visitors as Felixstowe held on to leap frog them and take control of Division 3NE.
