FELIXSTOWE Ladies got their new season off to the best possible start at the weekend with a convincing 9-0 win over Christchurch Ladies, which leaves them sitting at the top of the East Suffolk Premier league.

Amongst the goals were six from last season’s top goal scorer Chloe Williams and a further three from Millie Carey, Abi Jewkes and Helen Rudd. Man of the match went to Lois Hunt who was starting in her first ever game for Felixstowe.

Captain Millie Carey said “Everyone played brilliantly today and it was a real team performance. We are really excited about the new season ahead and we’ve got a great team spirit which we hope will help us improve on last season.”

The day was made extra special with the news that a new sponsor had been secured for the ladies team. Felixstowe electrician Kimberley Payne, who trades as Kimberley Electrical, has agreed to support the ladies for the upcoming season, and in the game, the ladies wore shirts with her logo emblazoned on the front for the first time.

Millie continued: “We’re so grateful to Kimberley for her amazing support and we’ll do our best to ensure her investment in us can be repaid.”

Felixstowe Hockey Club’s three men’s teams start their season campaigns this coming Saturday (24th September).
