Felixstowe Hockey Club’s ‘Back to Hockey’ scheme, which has run throughout the summer has been such a success the club have been able to register a second ladies team into the league for the upcoming season.

The club was granted a pot of funding by England Hockey to run the ‘back to hockey’ campaign which involved eight free sessions of hockey with a qualified coach.

The end of the scheme has resulted in 23 new ladies signing up to play for the club, and the establishment of a 2nd team which will play in the Suffolk ladies league Division One when the season starts in September.

Helen Rudd, who will captain the ladies 2nd team said: “We have been surprised yet really happy at the number of ladies who have turned up every week eager to play. They have all worked really hard to improve their skills and we’re all looking forward to getting started. This is great for the ladies club and for the club as a whole.”
