Felixstowe Swimming Club travelled to Bungay on Saturday to compete in the final round of this year’s Winter League.

Competing against teams from Beccles, Hadleigh and Lowestoft, the team, pictured above, produced some fantastic swims.

More than 14 personal best times were achieved and nine first places gained in an exciting day of hard-fought swimming competition.

The senior boys medley relay team of Andrew Wills, James Casburn, Anton Auty and Dan Finegan provided great excitement for the travelling supporters in winning a close-fought Senior Medley Relay.

Wills and Finegan were joined later in the evening by Jack Beckett and Phil Gallagher to produce the most impressive swim of the event with a convincing win in the Senior Boys Freestyle Relay.

The final race of the evening was a very noisy, mixed 8x25m cannon relay with one boy and one girl from each age category swimming and the entire squad screaming their encouragement from the poolside.

Felixstowe were just beaten into second place by a strong Beccles team in the cannon.

When the points were totalled for the whole evening it was Beccles who narrowlybeat Felixstowe into second place.

Following a job well done, one of Felixstowe’s younger swimmers Liam Ditcham proudly collected the trophy for second place on behalf of his team mates at the venue.

The Felixstowe team for this final gala of the series were: Liam Ditcham, Stuart Evans, Lawrence Castle, Thomas Boyt, Jack Beckett, Dan Finegan, James Casburn, Anton Auty, Andrew Wills, Phil Gallagher Alice Meadows, Sophie Hall, Rachel Meadows, Faye Hermon, Lydia Stoodley, Katie Hall, Jade Blagg, Jess Smith.
