FELSTED School U15s became the South region Twenty20 champions last week, beating Whitgift School in the semi-final and Hampton School in the final. They will now play the winner of the Midlands group in the National semi-finals at Headingley on Sunday, September 9.
Ollie Ekers and Alex Marjoribanks, both aged 15, from Mountnessing and Great Dunmow respectively, were the stars of the day, with Ekers scoring 61 not out and Marjoribanks taking two wickets for just 13 runs in the final match.
Coach and Old Felstedian Nick Phillips, brother of Essex cricketer Tim Phillips, commented: “The team played superbly on the day and the pressure we put on the opposition with our fielding was exceptional. The semi-final was particularly pleasing with the team gaining four run-outs when Whitgift looked like they were running away with it. The boys were fantastic.”
