Chelmsford City succumbed to their first defeat of the 2013/14 Skrill South campaign after a goal in each half from hosts Tonbridge Angels saw them run out 2-1 winners.
The Angels stunned the visitors, who named an unchanged starting XI from the team that were victorious in the 3-2 defeat of Staines Town, seven minutes before the break through a Henry Muggeridge screamer.
The Clarets held on and looked destined to record an equaliser, but with 82 minutes on the clock, Tonbridge doubled their advantage through Skipper Lee Browning. The hosts ended the match with ten-men after Sonny Miles was shown a straight red for a handball in the box, with Clarets’ substitute Bertie Brayley tucking away the spot kick.
