THERE is no doubt about the quality of their pitches, and the men who nurture the turf at SIL senior clubs Framlingham Town and Old Newton have been suitably rewarded.
Kevin Arbon at Framlingham Town and Michael Brundish at Old Newton finished first and second in last season’s FA County Groundsman of the Year competition.
It’s a fitting tribute to their hard work, and it’s also a plus that the Football Association takes onboard the activities of local footballing stalwarts.
Many would argue – and I would agree – that the likes of Kevin and Michael deserve their accolades much more than a pampered professional player on 150,000 a week.
