A TRIO of young players from St Joseph’s College in Ipswich have got over their recent Daily Mail RBS Cup heartache by representing the capital at a prestigious competition.

Jake Harvey, Gabriel Carroll and Shaq Meyers all played for London at the weekend-long annual divisional festival last weekend after their Ipswich-based college endured quarter-final heartache in the national cup.

Carroll, who also plays for Sudbury, starred for the side scoring tries in both their 35-34 defeat by the North and comfortable 17-5 win over the Midlands.

The team was skippered by Tom Crozier, of Colchester, and also included James Crossley of North Walsham and Wymondham College - meaning the Eastern Counties had an impressive five representatives at the festival which was held at Broadstreet RFC, near Coventry.

The success continues for Crossley, who plays for North Walsham and Wymondham College, after he was selected to represent England against Ireland in a month’s time. Crozier has been named on the stand-by list.
