Football: AFC Sudbury lose appeal

Regrettably our appeal to The Football Association has been refused. Although the panel hearing our case were sympathetic they felt that, as the Ryman and Southern Leagues were now bound to reorganise their respective League boundaries at the end of the season, we should await the outcome of this.

We will continue to press our case throughout the coming season but, in my view, the main impetus should come from the Ridgeons League and Suffolk FA so that the views of all the region's clubs are made clear. The argument that we have put forward is not just ours but affects all clubs in the Eastern counties who wish to progress. The appeal has helped to lay the ground and now we must make sure that the right decision is taken by the Leagues next year. In the meantime we will enjoy the newly named Zamaretto League, get behind our team and look forward to some cracking football.

Nicky Smith has confirmed the signing of Colchester United reserve striker, Perry Sansford, a sturdy 18 year old. Pre-season training started on the 23rd June and Nick, Chris Tracey and Ian Manby are on the look out for new local talent and have made an open invitation to any player who thinks he is good enough to come training every Tuesday and Thursday at King's Marsh Stadium starting at 7.30 pm sharp.

Remember that every Sunday we are holding car boot sales starting at 8 am at King's Marsh.
