Brian Gibbs, who was a member of the famous Colchester United side who beat Leeds United in the FA Cup in 1971, has died. He was 77. Brian played a total of 178 times for the U’s and was also a member of the team that won the Watney Cup Final in August 1971.

Brian played for six seasons for Gillingham before his move to Colchester, however.

And he remains the second-highest goalscorer in Gillingham’s Football League history.
