FORMER Suffolk schoolboy Joseph Beecroft, who is currently attending a Soccer Scholarship in Tennessee, USA has been selected as the Transouth Athletic Conference Defender of the week.

This was against strong senior opposition within the conference and players drawn from all over the World.

Last weekend he managed a strong defence back line in two matches against very strong opposition away from home. They beat the highly-rated University of Mobile and drew against Auborn University in Montgomery, both outstanding results.

Joseph is a ex-Ipswich Academy student and also played for Whitton United, Bury Town FC and represented the Suffolk FA at county level.

Joseph's College team is located in Pulaski, Tennessee and known as the Red Hawks and last year won their conference and but unfortunately failed to make the National championships after a penalty shoot-out.

The Red Hawks are a team consisting of local and international players from South America and Europe.
