Fox is suspended by Kirkley

KIRKLEY & Pakefield midfielder Justin Fox has been suspended from football by the club, following his sending-off and the ensuing m�l�e which flared towards the end of The Royals' Ridgeons League defeat against Wroxham a week ago on Wednesday.

Fox was not in the squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to CRC, and in a statement issued on their website, the K&P managerial duo of Jon Reynolds and Stewart Larter said: “The Kirkley and Pakefield FC management and players would take this opportunity to apologise for the events at the match versus Wroxham.

“Please take our assurances that the events will be reviewed via an internal investigation, action taken and any learnings will be implemented. Justin Fox was dismissed on the night in question, which led to the events and this has been referred to the club's disciplinary committee. And in the interim, Justin has been suspended from football by the club.”

A spokesman for Wroxham said the club would “not comment” until this issue had “been dealt with” through the proper channels.

“We thank Kirkley FC for instigating a full internal enquiry and are sure they will conclude things professionally,” a statement on their website says.

Fox, a former Wroxham player who left Trafford Park to join the KP Royals in May 2008, allegedly fouled an opposing player close to the dugouts in the 88th minute and this sparked scenes of mayhem.

In the ensuing trouble that flared towards the end of the game, a punch was allegedly thrown and Lowestoft police were subsequently called.

“Police were called around 9.40pm last Wednesday to Walmer Road to reports of a fight at a football match,” police press officer Anne-Marie Breach said.

“A 43-year-old man sustained bruising to his eye in the incident. A 35-year-old man was spoken to by officers and he apologised to the 43-year-old, who did not wish to take any further action.”

Both Suffolk FA and Norfolk FA have been informed, and the matter is currently being discussed.
