FRAMLINGHAM Town are to become the first Kingsley Healthcare SIL side to play in the FA Vase for a quarter of a century.
They have received a bye in the first qualifying round and will play the winners of the all-Ridgeons League Brantham Athletic versus Stowmarket Town game in the second qualifying round on September 18.
Martin Head, chief executive of the Suffolk Football Association, said: “As a step seven side Framlingham are entitled to enter the FA Vase.
“But to be accepted they must have facilities that meet the criteria of the competition. Framlingham have a ground and floodlights that meet those requirements.”
Ironically, Head was manager of Crane Sports when they played in the Vase in the eighties and enjoyed memorable games against future finalists Tiptree and also Arlesley while Ransomes Sports famously took Gresley Rovers to a replay with the visitors including one-time 1million Manchester City signing Steve Daley in their line-up.
