The world’s best players will take part at the World Real Tennis Doubles Championships title, at Prested Hall, near Colchester, between April 18-23.

Real Tennis is the original racquet sport from which the modern game of tennis derived and sees players competing with wooden racquets and heavy cork-based balls, on a court that is longer and wider than a standard tennis court.

Prested are kindly offering 200 free standing tickets for the first day’s play, which will include local players Rob Fahey MBE and Richard Smith take part.

The Championships are set to be a fiercely competitive affair, with players from America, Australia and the UK challenging to be crowned World Champions.

This will produce a superbly exciting and thrilling spectacle, with the hard heavy ball being hurtled around the court at incredible speeds, demanding, at this level, greater skills than perhaps any other game.

Along with the main spectacle there will be plenty of other events to enjoy over the weekend, from a Padel Tennis exhibition on Prested’s fabulous brand new courts, the championships gala dinner, to the Pro-Am and handicap doubles tournaments.

Also, on the final day, a raffle with over £1,000 worth of prizes will be drawn, while a fundraising auction will also be held.
